The Habit Collective Blog April Part One
Who is The Habit Collective?
Ultimately, the Collective is YOU. Some of you have been coached by me in the Tiny Habits® program and others of you are brand new to the Collective. However you arrived here, I am so happy we are on this journey together.
My name is Jennifer Wood and I am a certified coach in the Tiny Habits® Method with a heart for women and the passionate and purposeful lives we long to create. I desire to create a space known as "the softest place to land on the internet." Social media can be a cruel, judgmental and angry place and I want to change that by creating a space for women to be nurtured, cared for and celebrated. The Habit Collective's overarching theme is focused on creating healthy habits that don't overwhelm our already busy lives. Over time, these habits grow to produce massive results, however it's much more than that. The community being created here is a way to connect us and have us support each other in the ways we need to feel understood and to belong to something bigger than just ourselves. Even the logo for the Collective was carefully designed with this in mind. The pieces are flowing towards the larger mandala. A mandala is symbolic for everything being connected and even though we have more ways than ever to communicate in this lifetime, true connection is still a missing component of many of our lives. Be on the lookout for our official community launch on 6/1 and all the great things in store for YOU. In the meantime, take a look at some of the current programs I have for you, starting with the Free 5 Day Tiny Habits® Program.
Habit Tips to Live By - Rehearsal + Celebration = Habits That Stick
You have heard me say it time and time again, but people change best by feeling good, NOT by feeling bad. The closer that good feeling is to when you are doing your habit, the faster it will stick. Take social media as an example. You didn't need to practice that habit for 21 days did you? No. The first time someone liked or commented on your post, that solidified it. You felt good and kept using the social media. That's why celebrating as you are doing your habit or immediately after is so important. Now, what about those habits you have to do but aren't that thrilled about? Well, this is where practice does make perfect. In one word…rehearsal. Yep, rehearse those habits AND the anchor to the habit 5-7 times to really ingrain it and you won't have to be reminded to do it. Muscle memory is the best memory!
The Collective Collection
I am NOT an affiliate of any of these products. I just use them and think they are cool.
This is a section where I highlight some of my favorite items related to Health. Wealth. Happiness and Home
Health - PlankPad
The key to making an exercise habit stick is to make it something you WANT to do. The PlankPad is simply a board that works with an app on your phone or your TV to work your entire body. My abs were screaming when I was done but I was having such a fun time with the video game environment that I didn't really pay much attention.
Wealth - Google Sheets
When one person handles the finances in a relationship (ME), it is so easy to get frustrated with your partner and to also lose track of who is spending what. Google Sheets is free and you can create a shortcut to your smartphone so as you both spend money, you can each update your portion. Or, if your partner is like mine and always forgets to update the sheet, you can do it and then they always know how much they can spend.
Happiness - Bathtub caddy
I'm going to do a group coaching on the benefits of a Therapy Bath in April, but in the meantime, if you don't have a bathtub caddy, what are you even doing with your life ;-)? This one holds a book or magazine, beverage, snack and a special place for your phone so it doesn't fall in the bath. It also comes in a variety of colors to match your décor and most importantly, stays put!
Home - Make Your Own Fragrance Wax Melt
I am a sucker for all the fragrance melts out there, but I also love to change it up and HATE trying to get a wax cube out of the plastic package and getting it all over my fingers. So, I figured out how to make my own. These work with any electric wax warmer that sits on a flat surface. You can use any fragrance or essential oil you want, but I am absolutely addicted to the fragrances from Candle Science. The soy wax pellets last forever and the disposable cups can also be re-used.
